We Are Smashin

Well I'm back again today. Wow what a productive day I've had. I got a couple of cards made this morning, ran some errands, did some shopping and started my "Smash Book". Over at Color Me Creative Classroom Suzanne started a new group called We R Smashin, Scrappin & Journaling. This is going to be a fun group with lots of very talented ladies in it. You can buy Smash Books and all sorts of accessories too, but I decided to make mine myself. So today I started. From what I've learned a "Smash Book" can be anything you'd like: a diary, a journal, a little scrapbook, or a place for notes and ideas, anything you want. It's your book you can do with it what you like. I decided to make a book filled with ideas of future projects I'd like to make along with lists of blogs that have cards or other creations that I'd like to CASE someday. So I can keep this list all in one place instead of lots of little sticky notes all over my room. I also figured I'd keep a list of my favorite Copic Color Combos and maybe even some sample colorings in there also. I plan on playing it by ear, day by day.

So this is the cover for my "Smash Book" I just started with some retired SU designer paper and added some computer generated words. Assembed a flower and added a big black brad. I ran some blue card stock though my crimper and edged it with my trusty gold pen and added a butterfly brad that I got from Michaels. I used a MS border punch on both green and blue card stock and then glued together them side by side. I bound it all together with my Bind It All and now I think I'll add some ribbons to the binders and I should be all done. Now I just need to faithfully fill my book with ideas and wonderful, useful information. Well that's about all the energy and creativity I have left in me today. I think I'm going to sit myself down and have a nice drink of soda and relax. I thank you for stopping by today and I hope to see you again tomorrow.
I wish you all a great, relaxing evening.

  1. Donna, not only is this a GREAT idea but it's so pretty too! Really like how you crimped those butterfly wings. Just so pretty - and useful!
Know what you mean about the sticky notes too-they're all over my computer desk! What a mess and this little book would be the solution to all that....Um...I may have to do one of these.

  5. These smash books made the scene a couple years ago with little interest, but they've really caught on recently, and everyone is making them! I saw a whole stack of them at Michaels recently too, but yours is SO pretty and I love that it has your own personal touch. I always thought "what would I do with something like a smash book?" but after I read what you intend to do with yours, a smash book is beginning to sound like a wonderful idea! NJ!

  10. Ooooo I love the cover of your homemade Smash book. Those colors are quite popular right now and go so well together. My kids got me a Smash book for Christmas with an ulterior motive... so I don't forget things. Seriously... me... forget things?? Oh yeah, big time.

I have to ask if you ordered your Cover-A-Card stamp yet?? Your comment on my blog was a hoot, and I might add I'm happy to be an enabler of more craft stuff! heeheehee.

  12. I love the cover of your Smash Book. Blue and green are one of my favorite color combos. I think I need to think about making one of these books for myself. I also took a quick peek at Color Me Creative. Looks like a neat site...if I only had more time.

Thank you so much for stopping at my blog and leaving such kind words. It always makes you feel good when someone leaves you a comment and actually since I am still rather new at all of this it gets me down right excited!
