S & S Sketch #197

Here is my entry for the OWH's Stars & Sketch Challenge this week.  I did deviate a bit from the sketch.  I only ended up with one mat on my focal image instead of two as in the sketch but I had my image already printed out and then my printer gave me a few problems so I went with what I had.

I used this darling pre-colored digital image and great sentiment by Deedee Digital Images found here. I am just in love with her images especially the ones I've been using for children.  I started with the image and then found some gray paper from The Winter Combo by DCWV.  I colored a piece of white card stock with a Copic marker trying to match the Cool Cat's collar and embossed it with a Cuttlebug  folder.  Instead of ribbon I used just a strip of black card stock to separate my two papers.
I just placed the sentiment on an angle so as to fit nicely on the card.  I was going to add a pink heart somewhere in the green section but a "Cool Cat" makes me think that this should be a boy's card and I didn't think most boys would like to see a pink heart on there.  What do you think - should I leave it alone or add a pink heart or maybe a white one?  I'm also working on a ODBD card and hopefully I'll get that posted later on today.  Thanks you for stopping by. Wishing you are great Sunday.  See you soon.

  1. Ahhh, this is just too cute! I love that crazy cool cat, and the embossed panel really added some POP to that great image! If I were giving this to a boy, I might be inclined to punch a silver, red or blue heart and stick it right on top of the little pink one, or else leave this one the way it is. I would imagine the color of the heart wouldn't make a bit of difference to a child who smiles after seeing this darling card! You;re going to make some child smile big-time with this adorable creation :)

  2. Nice Card!
I like how you made your own coordinating paper and embossed it with circles like the gray paper.

  3. On cool cat and one cool card! Love the embossing on here and that image is so cute. The heart - I'd just leave it as is since I'm sure the little boy that gets this would love it no matter what color that heart may be! Precious card.

  4. I just love these sketches! I learn something everyday. Thanks for the tips on making your own background with the copics and cuttlebug. My nephew loves pink! So.... whatever you decide you can't go wrong.

  5. Really cute card, Donna. I'm in awe that you were able to make your own custom colored cardstock! I've colored ribbon before, but not paper. Great idea.

  10. Hi Donna, love that cool cat! I never would have thought to color paper with a Copic, but what a terrific idea! Really cute card that I think any little boy would love. I think the pink heart would be just fine. I have altered pre-colored digis a bit at times with my Copics (or even a Sharpie). I think a red Copic would color over the pink with no problem. Pink heart or red heart, you've made a terrific card!
