Another Deedee's Digi of the Month

All of our children have a gift that they love to receive at Christmas.  We call it a "Ditty Box".  It's a tote that we fill with things that they need but hate to spend the money on like paper towels, cleaning supplies, toothpaste, etc.  Well this year one of our daughters, Alli,  will not be making it home for Christmas so I made her a very small ditty box, just a few small items like lip balm, cough drops, etc. and a check to buy what she needs at home.  This way she still gets her ditty box without us spending a mint on shipping a big tote.   Yesterday I played along in  Deedee's December Digi Challenge  I used her free image titled Gingerbread Train.  While I was making my card, I kept thinking that I could use these digi images for my Ditty Box.  So today I made up Alli's Ditty Box - what do you think?

I enlarged and printed out the pre-colored image of the train and the conductor and then I cut the conductors's head off and pieced it into the train window.  I colored the ground with Copics and used some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink for the sky.  The sentiment comes along with the Gingerbread Train set.  After printing it out and matting it I added a little red brad to match the door knob on the train.   It's very hard to see in this picture but I added Dazzling Diamonds to the MS snowflakes and the top of the train. I think you might be able to see it better if you click on the image to enlarge it.  I am happy with the way it came out and I'm pretty sure Alli will get a kick out of it as well as being happy that she still gets here Ditty Box.      That's it for me for tonight.  I'll see you again soon and as always I appreciate your visit and comments.

Alli is going to treasure this box for a long time I'm sure, and your ditty box idea is so sensible and useful too! So much better than buying useless gifts that never get used! 10. That is a very thoughtful gift, Donna. Love how you decorated it up! My DD likes to make up winter survival kits for her employees, with tissues, hand sanitizer, lip balm, chicken soup, etc. That is what this reminds me of. Hope all is well with you.

  11. I've seen this digi on a couple of blogs tonight, and it is just darling. Each blogger has used it in such different ways, so it's very versatile. I'm really liking how you did your background, then put the beautifully colored digi on the top. Nice touch with the little engineer peeking out of the window, and your clouds are done so well! Good job! TFS & the snowflake trim was just awesome too. Hugs

  13. First, what a marvelous idea for a gift for your children, Donna -- might have to borrow this for ours! I love how you did up Ally's box specifically. How clever to put the conductor peeking out the window. Such a marvelous background scene you created around the train, too. Ally must have loved getting this -- what a sweet mama you are! :-)
