Words 2 Scrap By #1

Hello out there in Blogland.  Today is the first day of a new challenge blog titled "Words to Scrap By"  This blog was started by two very talented ladies, Bobbi & Sybrina, that I'm happy to say I've gotten to know through blogging. They will be having monthly inspirational challenges and for this first one they have asked us to draw inspiration from the words to the song "My Favorite Things"  I took my inspiration from the line "snowflakes on my nose and eyelashes"  and here is what I came up with.
I used a digital image from SNSS and matted it with a SU! top note die.   I dotted all around the die piece with a White Sharpie that I received as a gift.  Thank you to Santa's Elf.  I used Fran-tage White Chunky powder for the snow and I was lucky enough to get some right on the snowman's nose.  YAY for me!  The patterned paper is by DCWV's Winter Pack, which I've been using for about 3 years now.  Great pack.  I rounded the top corners of the focal image and again on the card base.  If I'm rounding only two corners of a card I usually round the bottom corners  but I thought I'd try something different today. I kind of like the look.

If you get a minute or two please try to stop by W2SB and show these two ladies some support with their new venture by making a card.   They are offering a nice gift from Paper Smooches this month and there is a lot of inspiration in that lovely song to draw from.

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world today.  We are in for a blizzard, so I'm hoping to get a few cards made today and tomorrow.  Hope you are have a marvelous day.

  2. Well you certainly chose the perfect card to make for a snowy day!! LOL I've just got to get my hands on some of that frantage, because it's the most realistic-looking snow!! It looks perfect on that little snowman, and I like the rounded corners! It's so funny that you and I nearly went for the same image and top note die at the same time!! We're definitely on the same wave length kickin' in this new year!
Stay warm and safe in all that snow! Our's will begin in a couple more hours, and I'm as ready as I'm going to get :)

  4. LOVE IT!!! Donna, this is so cute and that speck of the Frantage on his nose is perfect. You couldn't have planned it better! Like the chunkiness of that stuff too - and really need to add that to my wish list. I do love the Frantage and the look it gives cards.....when I can keep it from blowing all over the place! LOL!
Love your card and will have to check out the new challenge!
Hope y'all don't get snowed in too bad as I've heard that's a pretty awful weather system headed your way. Stay warm!

  7. Hi, Donna. Sending two huge THANK YOUs to you -- for being one of the first to link up a card to our first challenge and for giving us such a nice shout out on this post. So, thank you, thank you! And, your card is adorable! After seeing your little guy, I've gotta check out this Frantage powder. Thanks again and stay safe during this latest bout of winter weather.

  8. Happy New Year, Donna! Thanks for the tip on the new challenge. One of the elves left a white Sharpie for me, also! How fun! Love the coloring and snow on this sweet snowman. Hang in there with the snow,

  9. Hi Donna! What a wonderful card- you always have such nice touches that really make a difference-the rounded corners, the white dots, the snowflakes, the PERFECT placement of the snow on his nose- you must have danced the happy dance when you got it placed so perfectly! LOL Stay in and stay safe- we are supposed to get about the same amount of snow as you-- for only the 3rd time in 11 years- my outpatient clinics are closing Friday. Lots of work involved to make this happen but I feel safer for staff and patients- plus I get to stay home- and maybe make some cards!!! Sometimes being a nurse is hard in the winter but having a 3 day weekend- makes me very happy! Hope your dogs do OK with the storm! Great seeing you here!

  11. Hello Donna -- I'm new to this group and we both picked the "Snow on my nose and eyelashes" line. It's been VERY snowy here too in Ohio so it makes you think of snowmen more!! Love your card with all the decorations on the snowman --- that stamp is beautiful!!
