W2SB #5 - Bloom Where You Are Planted

Happy Friday all.  I'm here with a card for the Words 2 Scrap By challenge.  I know everyone is thinking of spring and spring flowers right now, but a have to admit I like the summer blooms better.  I have loved flowers and gardens since I was a little girl as my, very green thumbed, Grandmother had the most beautiful gardens you could ever imagine.  At first I was not successful with gardening, but all of a sudden I did start to bloom a bit more in the garden.  I remember one morning going outside and just being amazed that my Tiger Lily bloomed overnight and the orange colors we just striking to me.  That day they became one of my favorite flowers. Daiseys are my all time favorite. To me they very clean and crisp looking
This stamp is from a retired SU! set titled Fifth Avenue Floral and I'm not sure this is even a Tiger Lily stamp but I made it into one anyway.  I colored it with Copics and used a sentiment from that same set. My background paper is from a pack by Miss Elizabeth's and I was lucky enough to pick that up in a Dollar Store.    My sentiment makes me laugh because, in my gardens, I never do it right the first time.   I am constantly digging up my flowers and moving them around, just to change the look of the gardens from year to year, so I guess I don't do it right the first time in the garden anyway.   I think if you are put on this earth and you grow into a caring, giving, honest person you have done it right and you have bloomed where you were planted.  Wishing you all a fantastic weekend.  See you again soon.

  1. Donna, your flower on your card looks just like a tiger lily. My Mom had the most wonderful tiger lilies growning around her house in the country, which they retired to. I love that they are tall and sway in the wind, I used to tell her, your lilies are dancing today!! Love the card, and the memories it evoked for me.

  2. Beautiful card and a wonderful post! I don't know if this is a Tiger Lily or not but no worries because it's gorgeous! Love the orange color of it too. A very clean and crisp card and just stunning. Love it and love that sentiment too!
I'm more of a hit and miss green thumb I guess. Some things I can grow great and some, not. I do love to look at beautiful flowers and gardens though.

  4. Beautiful flower card! Floral images are my favorites so this challenge and your card are perfect for me! I really like the colors you chose. Thank you so much for your kind comment in my blog. The dress "fabrics" are actually stamped, not patterned paper! :) Have a fun weekend!

  7. Such a pretty lily, Donna. I love the color you used to color it. Just wonderful.

I have to keep the same garden look all the time or just plant something new because I never move anything. HA

  10. Wow, your tiger lily looks fabulous Donna! You have to color and the spots down pat. And I just love that sentiment. Hey I must not do it right the first time either as I always moved flowers around too. Not now though. lol Hugs

  11. I love your beautiful card, and especially how you colored the flower to look like a tiger lily! I have to agree with your philosophy on bloom where you're planted! I understand the kindness aspect, but it's the gardening part I still haven't gotten the hang of yet! There was a shortage of green thumbs the year I was born me thinks :)

  14. Donna,

As much as I loved your card, I loved reading about your grandmother's gardens, your own love of gardening, and your life philosophy even more. :)
