Hearts and Flowers

I tried very hard to make a card that would fit the sketch over at Stars and Stamps this week, but I just could not do it.  Everyone else seems to get their cards to look so very nice, but I just could not come up with anything that satisfied me so I went a whole different route.  Obviously this will not be entered into that challenge, but I'm OK with how it ended up and it is just another card that can go into my next OWH box.  I decided not to put a sentiment on the card front.

The flower, circles and heart punches are all from SU! The baby hearts are negatives from a MS punch.  I stamped the Very Vanilla paper with a SU! (french script) background stamp and the embossed it with the Swiss dot folder.  The pink paper is the reverse side of the green paper and is also retired from SU!.  That will do it for me with card making for today.

Little story for you and a thought for any of you in our area that have had a lot of snow.  Our washer and dryer is on the ground level of our house and are near a window.  I noticed that by the end of yesterday's snowfall I could not see out of the window at all anymore and when I mentioned that to Hubby this morning it dawned on him that that meant the dryer vent was blocked by snow.  Needless to say we (mostly Hubby) had to spend some time outside this afternoon digging out the dryer vent.  In order to do that he had to make a path from our little courtyard into the house which is about 5 feet in and the snow is over 4 feet high in that area.  Poor Hubby was out there for over 1 1/2 hours and then his back started to give out so he came inside. It was to the point that you had to throw the snow way over your head.    I wanted to help so, against his wishes,  I went out  but could only make it for about 20 minutes when I started with my Exercised Induced Asthma  and was whizzing so hard I had to quit.  Hubby will be heading back out there again in a while to finish the job.  The vent is not down that low, but it is just that the snow is up that high.   Fun in the North East.  Thanks for stopping by again today and I wish you a good evening.

  1. OMGoodness! I can't even image the dryer vent being covered in snow! That's something I would have never even thought of until I turned on the dryer - and cause a wreck! This just can't be fun having snow like that Donna! Y'all please take care out there digging out of it and just do a little at a time.

I don't remember seeing the sketch you're talking about but do love your card just the same. Those flowers and the colors are so pretty. It's a great card!

  2. Oh, my! That's a lot of snow, Donna! Or is it just a good excuse to not do laundry? lol
Your card is so pretty! I really like the pink flowers on the green background. :o)

  3. I couldn't come up with a card for that sketch either! I sat and thought and moved circles and finally just went back out to work on the jigsaw puzzle! LOL Your card looks pretty on it's own - without using the sketch! I love the rich colors!
I cannot imagine digging through 4' of snow to open a dryer vent, but it must be nothing short of a miracle that you've never lost power through all of that snow!! You just take it easy Donna - your body has been through enough this year and you need to build your strength back gradually! Keep knitting and stamping and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow..........well NO! You should be singing "let it STOP, let it STOP, LET IT STOP ALREADY!" LOL

  4. Never mind Stars and Stamps this time. You made the prettiest card and I love this little heart and the color mix you used. I know how you feel, though, when things just don't work the way you want.

Oh my gosh, I'm glad you two didn't kill yourselves out there. It is just unbelievable the snow you have received. You two stay safe and warm. I hope the snow has stopped for you by Easter or, at least, by July. LOL

  5. This is beautiful Donna, the vibrant pink flowers look brilliant against the black and green.
Do take care both of you, no more digging out the snow for you Donna.

  6. Love your card Donna, so pretty with the pink flowers and script stamped heart! The tiny hearts are awesome and look so cute. I like that you didn't put a sentiment on it. I don't think it needs one. You and hubby are right Donna and the vent needs to be unblocked from the snow. I so feel for you and hubby, all that snow is hard especially when you have no where to throw it and have to throw it above your head! Please tell hubby to only work on it a little at a time. And you stay inside Donna!! You don't want another attack. And we don't want you hubby have a heart attack heaving that snow up over his head! So little bits here and there. Hang the close on something and don't use the dryer for now, what ever it takes. Please be careful and safe!!! Hugs, Brenda

  7. I love this card, Donna, and the sketch at OWH was a difficult one this week. Wonderful bright colors and without a sentiment, it can be used for almost anything. Good catch on the dryer vent but sorry it's been so much work to dig it out. Maybe the snow will finally stop and all you easterners will be able to dig out and find daffodils instead. :-D

  8. Pretty card, anything with flowers seems so wonderful about now! Sometimes, a sketch is just hard to follow.
But someone will enjoy this beautiful card for sure!

I hear you about the dryer vent, our furnace vent and dryer vent are on the side of our house and the snow is so high back there, but the hubs has been keeping it cleared around them both. We even had to clear a path for Keeya to go outside in the back! And even though she is a Northern breed and has all that hair, she isn't staying out long these days.

    Keep warm
