S & S Sketch Challenge #140

Sunday means Stars and Stamps Sketch Challenge.  This week is #140 and here is the sketch we are to start with.
And here is what I came up with.

I kind of cheated.  I just used one black panel and added two pieces of some alcohol ink paper I had in my stash.  I thought the colors went pretty well with the background panel which is from a SU 6 x 6 pad that I received as part of some blog candy.  The smaller hearts are from a MS border punch and the larger ones are from a Sizzix die.  The sentiment is from Studio G.  I just used my wavy cutter on the edges of the sentiment panels and I was done.
My day has been filled with food shopping and cooking for both tonight and for  company we are having over tomorrow night so not  too much time is being spent in my craft room today.  I do love to cook too, so it's not a bad day at all.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by.  I always appreciate seeing you all here.

Shopping Our Stash #70

Back again with a Shopping Our Stash #70 - Fur or Feathers entry.  As the title suggests we were asked to make a card with either fur or feathers.  This little furry Teddy Bear Rhubarb fits the bill I would say.

Went I went shopping in my stash I found this brown paper which I just used on two cards.  My sentiment is ages old and a favorite of mine.  The orange brads and brown "thingys" (don't know what you call them) are from deep down in my stash, in fact I don't think I've ever used these at all.  It's a real good thing for this SOS challenge blog.  I think it is really going to help me think before I buy.
I will have to admit though that the I did recently purchase the Spellbinders A2 Polka Dot die.  My image is by SNSS and I colored it with my Copics.   Well that will do it for me tonight.  Back again tomorrow with more challenge cards.  As always, thanks for taking the time to stop by to say Hi.

HMFMC #129

Well I'm trying to catch up on some challenges so my first one is the House House & Friends Monday Challenge #129 found here.

We are challenged, this week, to make a card representing Autumn and/or Harvest.  I went with this image titled Pumpkin Pie which always makes me thing of Autumn.  My sentiment is also from Stampabilities.  I colored the image with Copics and cut it out with a SB Label Nine die.  I sponged SU's Certainly Celery around the edges of the die and also ran a Spica pen along the inside of the die.  The corners were done with a SU Corner Punch.  The papers are also SU.  I added some beige pearls here and there for my finishing touches.  Hoping to have a bunch more cards for you tomorrow.  Thanks for stopping by, see you soon.

Rhubarb Scarecrow - Happy Fall

I took a few minutes to make a card just because I love this image, Rhubarb Scarecrow.  He is a digital image from SNSS.

I know I should be catching up my needed birthday, get well and holiday cards but I just adore Rhubarb and wanted to color up this image with my Copic Markers.  I had fun making this card.  The papers and card stock are all from SU.  I cut the image out with a Nestabilities Label Nine die and traced around the inside boarder with a Gold Pen.  Then I matted that onto a Large Circle Nesti that I embossing with the Swiss Dot embossing folder.  A couple of gems from Recollections and I was done.  Now back to the cards I really need to make.  Thanks for stopping by.  See you soon.

Shopping Our Stash #69

Emboss It! That is what is required this week over at Shopping Our Stash Blog.  I did both dry and wet embossing.  I really like this challenge and it's good for all of us to use our "stash" instead of always buying "new".   I'm trying very hard to play along on a more regular basis.    Starting with today.
This is a very busy time as I have tons of birthday and get well cards to do for family and friends this month, but I also want to get a head start on my holiday cards, so I have been sticking to the CAS style of cards, which is my all time favorite anyway, but I don't know if others feel the same way.  I can only hope So!  I embossed my sentiment with my trusty SU gold embossing powder and then I ran that through the Big Shot with the Fancy Fan embossing folder also by SU.  For some odd reason I didn't like all of the layers with rounded corners so I decided to change it up and make the black layer square.  I ended up liking it better this way.  Well off to continue to play catch up.  Thanks for taking the time to stop by for a visit.  It's always nice to see you.

HMFMC #128

Happy Tuesday Everyone,  My posting this afternoon is for the House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge #128.  We were challenged to make a card depicting "friendship".  I figured this sweet duckling was about as good a friend as you could get carrying his little mousy friend across the pond.  What do you think?  I had my own computer generated sentiment in mind but I didn't know how to do that in a circle so I went with this very appropriate stamp from the Seeds of Kindness stamp set by Gina K Designs.  I dotted the "i" in friend with a small rhinestone as a finishing touch.
 Card Recipe:
Image:  Stampabilities (Relaxing Ride)
Coloring:  Copic Markers
Papers: Stampin Up (I won in some blog candy - YAY)
Punches:  Stampin Up
Thanks for stopping by.  I'll see you again soon.

S & S Sketch Challenge #138

Hi All, Well another Sunday gone by.  It was the last Sunday of the summer and it was beautiful so we spent a big part of the day outside cleaning up the yard.  We had another sketch challenge over at Stars & Stamps today.

I had this little adorable image from House Mouse already colored with Copics so I cut it out with SB square dies and mounted that onto a piece of pink card stock that was die cut with a MB die and matted with black card stock.    The background paper was one that I made a while back with Alcohol Inks.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts and the hearts are from the SU owl punch set.  That will do it for me tonight.  Thank you so much for taking a  minute to stop by.  Company is always welcome.  See you soon.

Stars & Stamps Sketch Challenge #137

Good Sunday Morning everyone.  We have another Sketch Challenge over at Stars and Stamps  .
I have been working on Christmas cards all weekend so I continued with that theme for this challenge.

My image, which is retired from SU,  was stamped in Versa Mark and embossed with Detail White ep. I then added some Gold Leaf Pen along the edges to give it the appearance of being layered.   The background was made using a SB  Diamond and Stars Impressabilities which I then sponged with SU's Bashful Blue Ink.  I added a small piece of black card stock that I embossed with the Swiss Dot Cuttlebug ef.  The scalloped edge was made with a SU border punch and the sentiment is from SU's Teeny Tiny Wishes.  I added some pearls to give it some pizzazz.  The last layer is just a piece of white card stock that I edged with the Krylon Gold Leaf Pen to match the the gold on the image piece.  I wish you all a wonderful Sunday.  Thank you so much for your visit.  It's always nice to have company drop by.  See you later on in the week.

OWH Mid Week Throw Down

Half the week has gone by already.  I don't know where it went.  For today's Mid Week Throw Down they asked us to make a child's card with scallops on it.
My Candy Cane Rhubarb image is from Sweet N Sassy Stamps and is colored with Copics.  It was cut out and matted with SB oval and scallop oval dies.  The designing paper, which I love, is from my scrap box and I don't know who made it.  The double scallop punch is by Martha Stewart.  My sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and it cut out with the Modern Label Punch, both from SU.
I'm hoping some hero's young family member will get a kick out of this little image.   Have a great night and  I'll see you all soon.  Thank you so much for stopping by.

VCMP Challenge #10

Here is the last card for me today.  Kathryn challenged us to make a  Home Sweet Home card.  (A card that represents your state).  I decided to use the Massachusetts state bird, which is a black-capped Chickadee.     My digital image is from Sweet N Sassy Stamps.

I colored it with Copics and cut it out with a SB die.  My paper is from the Basic Grey Indian Summer pad and I just added a strip of black card stock to change things up a little.  The flower is made up of felt and paper pieces and the leaves are made with a MS punch.  Three adhesive dots finish it off.
Thanks you for all your trips by here this weekend.  It was all very much appreciated.  See you again soon.

VCMP Challenge #8 Sports Theme Card

Hello all of you out there in blog land.  It's very warm and muggy here today but I'm looking at our red maple in the front yard and just noticed that it has already lost that beautiful shade of reddish/maroon.  The leaves look completely dead already.  That makes me kind of sad.
Anyway Cherie has challenged us to make a sports themed card for our heroes to send home to their family and friends.  Here is what I came up with.  I'm running a little low on energy today.
I used a House Mouse image titled Great Catch.  I colored it with my Copics and cut it out using  SB circle and scallop circle dies.  The background is the pillow top technique that Gina K Designs showcased last week.  It reminds me of how the baseball diamond looks on TV.  The sentiment is computer generated.  That's about it for now.  The next challenge I've started is the one that represents my state of Massachusetts.  I do have to take a break this afternoon as I have company coming, but hopefully I'll get back to crafting later on this afternoon.  As always I thank you for stopping by.

VCMP Challenge #4 Triple Time Stamping

Donna has challenged us to make a card using "Triple Time Stamping" (tutorial here).  This is a fun, very easy technique that I enjoyed doing very much.  I think I'll be making many more of these cards in the very near future.

I used an old retired stamp set from SU titled Baroque Motifs and my sentiment is my "go to" stamp from Hero Arts. I added a few green gems for some fun.  I think this might have to do it for me for tonight.  Hopefully I'll come up with more energy tomorrow morning.  I wish you all a great night.  I'm off to watch the rest of the NASCAR race.  Go Tony!!!!  Thanks for taking time to stop by.

VCMP Challenge #2 Recipe Card

Here I am with another challenge card for Operation Write Home's VCMP.  This one is for Cherie's Recipe Challenge found here.  Our recipe is 1 image, 2 patterned papers, 3words.  I think my card qualifies.
All the papers and card stock is from SU.  The digital image is from Sliekje's Stamps.  She has some adorable images.  I colored the image with Copic markers.  The sentiment is from Gina K Designs.
Trying to keep going with these challenge.  Hope to be back later on tonight.   Thanks for stopping by again.

OWH's VCMP & ODBD September Challenge

Well I am getting some of the VCMP challenges done for Operation Write Home, but in no specific order.  This one was actually our first challenge for the weekend and it was also the Our Daily Bread Designs challenge, which was to use a scripture or an uplifting quote or sentiment.  I am hoping that someone will find this sentiment uplifting, I certainly do.

This sentiment is from Penny Black.  For my patterned paper I used an old SU paper, Polka Dot Apricot Appeal,  and ran it through my Big Shot with a Spellbinders Impressabilities plate.  My blue panel is from my stash and I'm sorry but I don't know who it is by.  I'm hoping to be back later on in the evening with some more challenge cards.  Thank you for taking a peak.  See you in a while.

OWH Sketch #136 and VCMP

Good Sunday Morning to all of you.  I was not able to partake in all of the challenges yesterday at Operation Write Homes' Star & Stamps Blog, but this morning I did get to today's sketch #136 found here and  Cindy's challenge for yesterday Titled "Snowflakes but no Christmas" found here.   Here is our sketch to follow this week.

I decided to make an Any Hero Card to add to my next box that will be going out soon.

My papers and card stock are all from SU.  I crimped the Pacific Point card stock.  Use used SB square dies and added flag/star stickers that I have had laying around for ages.  My sentiment is from Hero Arts "Hero Mail" stamp set. I just finished it off with two gold brads.  Very simple  - Very Easy.

My next card is for Cindy's challenge.  Again I went with Simple and Easy.  My image and sentiment are both from Gina K Designs set titled "Ready, Set' Snow.  That set just has the cutest images and sentiments around.
My paper is from a Winter Pack by DCWV (a couple of years old by now).  I colored the image with Copics and sponged SU's Bashful blue around the inside edge of the SB Postage Stamp Die.  The Snowflake border is from EK Success and I just added a few blue gems to the centers of the flakes to make them pop and added a gem to the image piece to cover a spot I somehow managed to get on there.   The more I try to be careful the sloppier I am.   I am hoping to be able to get to some more challenges today, but I am also trying to divide my time between working outside and my craft room.  Thanks so much for stopping by to say Hi.  I always appreciate the company.
