MWT - Cards 4 Kids

This week OWH is asking for kids cards as their Mid Week Throwdown.  Here is mine.

This adorable image is from Deedee Anderson's Pocket Pals Collection found here.  There are different Pals like dogs, bunnies, kitties, and teddy bears.  As you can see I went with the Bunny this time.  I think this card could be used for either Easter or an every day child's love card.  I used the pre-colored image from the set and SB dies to cut it out.  The green paper also comes with this set (very good deal).  The sentiment stamp is from A-Muse and I dotted around the Sizzix heart die piece with a SU marker.  The small hearts are negative pieces from a MS border punch.  Boy, I use those hearts often.     That will do it for me for tonight.  Thanks for visiting.  See you again soon.  Stay warm.
PS I have no idea why there is a small grey heart on the focal piece.  It is not there in real life and I've taken several pictures.  I think somehow it must have happened when I applied the watermark.  Sorry.

OWH Sketch Challenge #209

Here is my entry for sketch #209 over at OWH.  I found this to be a great sketch and will be using this quite often in the future.

The flower and sentiment are both from a Gina K Designs set titled Stampers Favorites and the Dragon Fly is also from a Gina K Stamp set titled Vertical Greetings.  These are both beautiful sets that I just bought in the beginning of January and could not wait to ink them up.   I colored the flower and dragon fly with Copics.  The paper is from a retired SU! 6 x 6 pack.  I colored around the edges of a piece of white paper and also a small square piece of white paper with a B-4 Copic Marker so the edges and the banners would  match the flower and dragon fly.  I used the square punch to make the tails of my banners.  I punched out two strips of chevrons and placed them together to get my vertical strip.  I used some silver ( they photographed  as white) metallic stickers that I found at JoAnns as my embellishments on the bottom.  Because that are completely flat I thought they might travel better than gems.  That will do it for me tonight.  It's been a busy day and I'm shot.  See you again during the week.  Thanks a bunch for paying me a visit.

HMFMC #162 Show some LOVE

It's Monday so that means another challenge from House Mouse & Friends Monday Challenge.  This week's theme was picked by our own teamie, Christine, and she is looking for anything relating to LOVE.  Love themed cards are my all time favorite to make, so I was very happy with Christine's pick.  Here is my card for this week's challenge.

This stamp is titled "Wreath Love 02" and it was actually the very first House Mouse stamp I ever bought.  I just love it but it is a very small stamp, so I stamped it and them enlarged it on my copier.  I think it's sweet enough to be larger than it's original size.  I colored it with Copics and then cut it out with SB circle and matted that onto a SB's Heart Circle.  The sentiment was done with an edge embossing folder by Cuttlebug.  I added a couple of the negative hearts both on the image piece and the sentiment panel.     The background is embossed with an M-Bossibilities by SB.  My teammates have some fantastic cards to share with you so please hop on over to House Mouse & Friends found here    and check them all out.  You will find a ton of inspiration there and hopefully you will join us for the challenge.  We'd love to see how much  "LOVE" you have to share with us.  Don't forget you could also win some prizes just for joining us.

Di's BIO:  {I have been drawing since a child and studied graphics at College many years ago, I now work as a Medical photographer part time but my love was always drawing. I started cardmaking about 4yrs ago when I bought my daughter a cardmaking kit which we did together, but I’m afraid I got the bug! My daughter preferred scrapbooking. I then started looking online at other blogs and this then became my passion and I loved sharing my cards with like-minded people.  I love stamping and loved finding images, but sometimes I could not find what I wanted so I started to draw myself.

This then has become my second addiction and I have never looked back, I love thinking of new images, and its just fabulous to see others take them and make them into beautiful works of art. Long may it continue! }

A BIG Thank You to our two wonderful Sponsors for your support!
WE ARE VERY EXCITED TO HAVE YOU BACK!

Deedee's Football

Are you ready for some football?  My son is the biggest football fan in the world, however he's not happy this year because he is a Steelers fan.  Even still he will be watching and enjoying the Superbowl as will I.    I made him this card this morning to send to him as kind of joke.

I used the football images and papers from Deedee Anderson's Collection found here.  Maybe if you have a die hard football fan you, too, could make them a card for Superbowl.  Deedee's images are very reasonably priced and you can download them immediately once purchased.  This is a great set with all different colored jerseys as well as some great sentiments and papers.  I followed sketch #209 over at OWH but will not enter it over there because it is not going to the heroes. I printed out the pre-colored images and cut them out with SB dies.   I stenciled the stars along the right side panel and cut two banners and I was done.  Thanks for stopping by and I wish you a great Sunday.  See you soon.

Hanging Around

I made up this card today using a pre-colored image from Deedee Anderson found here.  This one comes in several different colors along with some adorable sentiments which makes this set a great buy.

After matting the image I then added some punched out hearts from a MS heart punch to the cloud.
I used some background paper that has been in my stash for a few years so I'm sorry but I don't know who it is by.  I think this card is going to head out to Cards for Hospitalized Kids.  I'm hoping it will bring a smile to a child's face and maybe brighten his or her day.  Thanks for popping in for a peek.  See you again soon.

Everything on this card came in this one set. The background paper, the sentiment and of course, the image. After printing out my image and cutting it out with a SB die I inked around the inside edge of the die with my Gold Pen to help the image to pop. I matted that with the Scallop die, also from SB. I added a couple of little hearts to my ribbon and two little stickers with gems in the centers on the focal piece.

Do you like the digi that I used on my project today? You could win it or any other set of your choice from Deedee's Digis just by leaving me a comment on this post. Swimming By

Hello out there.  I'm here today with a card that I made this weekend.   Image, sentiment, and paper are all from a set by Deedee Anderson titled Oceans Of Joy, found here

I used the precolored image and attempted to make an underwater background for him with Copics.  This card was made up entirely from this one set. I used the digi paper and the sentiment also.  Very good use of just one set. I dotted around the outside edge of the image circle as well as the sentiment panel and added a couple of brads and I was done. This went together very quickly.    This card will go to Cards for Hospitalized Kids.  That will do it for me today.  Got lots planned for the day but I did want to remind you that I am always grateful for your visits and comments. Have yourself a fantastic day.  See you again tomorrow with a my card for Deedee's One Stop Hop card. If you have a minute I'm asking that you stop by and see what we have to offer for this Hop. I'm sure you'll be happy.

HMFMC #161

Hi All, Our teamie, America, at House Mouse & Friends  has chosen our theme this week which is to  use a HMD stamp you haven't used before.  Something new for the beginning of the year would be a good way to look at it I guess.  Here is my card for this week.

This image is titled Dreampuff.  He looks so soft and sweet just lying there on that marshmallow.  I purchased this one in the fall but hadn't got around to inking it up until this week.  I colored him with Copics and made a spotted, marbleized  background with a couple of the Copics also hoping to add a little bit more color.  The papers are from SU! and the sentiment is computer generated.  I added a a couple of Jolee's silver blings  and a silver brad in the center of my flower.  It's a new year and hopefully one of your New Year's Resolutions is to play along with us here at House Mouse & Friends as often as you can.  We'd love to have you and see what you come up with for this challenge.

OWH Sketch Challenge #207

We have a sketch challenge today over at Operation Write Home and here is the card I came up with for it.
I went way back in my supplies to make this card.  The stamp set, paper and card stock are all from SU! back in 2007.  Pretty self explanatory and easy to put together.  The brads are from Recollections.
That will do it for me today, hope to see you again soon.  Thanks for stopping by.  Enjoy your evening.

Stars and Oranges

I'm here today with two cards that I made from a set by Doodle Pantry titled "Tree Glee".   I just fell in love with this set the minute I saw it.
This set comes with different trees that "grow" items like hearts, oranges, stars and shamrocks as well as sentiments to go along with them.  The background paper for both of these cards were in my stash and has been for about 4 years now.    As you can see I in the first card I went with the Stars mostly because of this sentiment.  I used the pre-colored version and cut it out with oval SB dies.  The sentiment was cut with SB also.  I added a red glittered star in with the sentiment to really let the recipient know what a "star" he or she is. I also popped up the sentiment.

This second card will let some child know how special he or she is.   I punched two corner punches by SU! and put them together and embossed them with the Swiss Dot folder.  I took this picture at an angle and the sentiment looks to be off centered, but it is not IRL.  The focal panel also looks to be lifting on the bottom corner, but again it is not.   These will be going in my box for Cards For Hospitalize Kids.     We are having spring like temps here today but quickly falling tonight to single digits.  Brrr!  I'm hoping to get some more crafting done this week as it will be getting too cold to venture outside.  Thanks for the visit.  I hope you are all warm and fuzzy where ever you are.  See you soon.

OWH Sketch #206

It's time for another Sketch challenge at Stars & Stamps.  I decided to make a guy card for some female hero to send home to a male loved one.  Here is my submission

Both of the patterned papers were in my stash so I'm sorry that I can't tell you who they are by.  The card stock is all by SU! -  Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake and Bordering Blue.  The back panel is embossed with a Swiss Dot folder and the vertical blue panel is embossing with a Darcy folder.
I used both Scallop & Circle dies by SB.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts stamped in Versa Mark and embossed with black powder. Then I just dotted around the scallops with a black Multi-liner.  I added three dimensional stickers, two silver and I colored one in gold with my Copic Marker and I was done.

Deedee's January Digi of the Month Challenge

Well it's the beginning of a new month which means Deedee Anderson is having a new challenge. Here is my card for this month.  I used the pre-colored version of this image and then just added some white dots to the sweater and hat with a White Sharpie Pen just to change it up a little bit.   I did a tiny bit of light blue coloring with a Copic marker to the snow on the ground and the mail box top and then used some white chunky glitter for some added sparkle.  I divided up the sentiment to be able to use it in two different spots.  The top sentiment was popped up with SU! deminsionals.  On the PS part of the sentiment I could see the tail of the "y" in "Somebunny" so I added a little blue heart to cover that up.  I also added some red hearts to the blue border punch for some contrast.  The background paper is by Catra Bella.   I will be sending this one off to Cards for Hospitalized Kids.

As you can see my colors appear very muted, I just can't get a good picture today
You can see how bright and cheery the colors are in the picture below.
-   -   -
This set is titled Sending My Love

Isn't this little bunny and all of the sentiments so cute?  If you played last month you should have received this set automatically, but if not you can purchase it for a very reasonable price.  Why don't you join in on the fun - who could resist this darling little bunny sending his messages of love?
Thank you for taking the time to visit.  On this bitterly cold day (6 degrees) I am warmed by your visit and comments.  See you soon and I wish you all a bright sunny day.

Words 2 Scrap By #1

Hello out there in Blogland.  Today is the first day of a new challenge blog titled "Words to Scrap By"  This blog was started by two very talented ladies, Bobbi & Sybrina, that I'm happy to say I've gotten to know through blogging. They will be having monthly inspirational challenges and for this first one they have asked us to draw inspiration from the words to the song "My Favorite Things"  I took my inspiration from the line "snowflakes on my nose and eyelashes"  and here is what I came up with.
I used a digital image from SNSS and matted it with a SU! top note die.   I dotted all around the die piece with a White Sharpie that I received as a gift.  Thank you to Santa's Elf.  I used Fran-tage White Chunky powder for the snow and I was lucky enough to get some right on the snowman's nose.  YAY for me!  The patterned paper is by DCWV's Winter Pack, which I've been using for about 3 years now.  Great pack.  I rounded the top corners of the focal image and again on the card base.  If I'm rounding only two corners of a card I usually round the bottom corners  but I thought I'd try something different today. I kind of like the look.

If you get a minute or two please try to stop by W2SB and show these two ladies some support with their new venture by making a card.   They are offering a nice gift from Paper Smooches this month and there is a lot of inspiration in that lovely song to draw from.

Thanks for stopping by my little corner of the world today.  We are in for a blizzard, so I'm hoping to get a few cards made today and tomorrow.  Hope you are have a marvelous day.
