MWT - Seeing Stars

Seeing Stars is the theme over at OWH's Mid Week Throw Down  this week.  I dug out my Hero Arts stamps and a few other items and went to work.  Here is what I ended up with.
The paper is by Create Paper and the red is  SU! Real Red.  I used a SB star die and a Sizzix heart die. The little heats in the center of the stars are the negative pieces from a MS border punch.  My final touch was to add star brads by Recollections to the center of the hearts. They are glittered but I did a sweater test and a finger test and nothing came off at all.  I popped up the hearts with SU! deminsionals.     That will do it for me for now.  Thanks a bunch for taking the time to stop by.  See you all soon.

SOS #125 Stitching

Over at Shopping Our Stash this week they requested that we have either faux or real stitching on our cards.  I went with faux because you would not want to see real stitching from me believe me. LOL  Here is what I came up with.
I have had this stamp (a round plastic stamp with a raised handle on it) forever.  I think I got it in a yard sale at one of our LSS.  I think it makes a great stamp for a boy.  I'm sure some girls would love it too, but my mind goes to boys for this one which is the reason I kept it kind of plain and simple.  Anyway I colored the stamp with markers before stamping it and then cut it out with SB dies.  The diamond shapes along the side are made from the SU! corner punch (smaller size). The designer paper is retired SU!   My stitching, as you can see, is on all the blue surfaces.  My final touch were the silver candy dots which, again, is the embellishment I tend to use when making guy cards because I think it is a nice embellishment without being too blingy if you know what I mean. This one will go off to Cards for Hospitalized Kids and I think I will make a few more like it in different colors.   Well I suppose I need to get to some housework before the whole day goes by.  Thanks for popping in.  Have a wonderful day.  See you soon.

Merry Monday #81

I should have been playing along with this challenge all year, but I guess it's never too late to start.  This week on Merry Monday Challenge they are looking for cards with Santa (The big Guy) on them.  Here is my entry.
I've had this beautiful Santa image for many years but last year I took it off it's wooden block and forgot to save the manufacturer's name, so I can't give you that info today, sorry.  I stamped it in Versamark and gold embossed it.  The background paper is from a 12 x 12 pack I had bought at JoAnn's several years ago and I guess I've lost the cover because I don't know who this is by either. Wow I should get better about these things.  Everything is matted in Real Red by SU! and the poinsettia was made by SB dies.  A JoAnn's gem added to the middle.  it is yellow but I could not seem to grab that color in my photo.   The sentiment is a retired SU! stamp.  I'm really glad I  found time to play along this week as this is a great challenge blog and helps a lot getting your holiday cards done.   Thanks for your visit here today.  Hopefully I will get to "play" some more today in my craft room and be back with another challenge card.  In the meanwhile I wish you all a great day.

OWH Sketch Challenge #196

Sunday = Sketch Challenge over at Stars & Stamps.  I decided to make the sentiment the major focal point for this one because I just love it.
Both the sentiment and the image are from SNSS.  I paper pieced (yay) the snowman's hat and cup to match the horizontal strip. Those of you who know me, know this is not one of my favorite things to do but I was determined to do it today.  I dashed around the two focal pieces with a gold uni-ball pen.  The designer paper is by DCWV winter pack from three years ago.  I matted the two focal pieces with Night Of Navy cs from SU! so I decided to run  the same color marker near the outside edges of the card to kind of bring things together.  All was good until I guess somehow I ended up with some marker on my hand.  You guessed it those two stamped hearts are there for a reason- - - to cover up a smudge of blue marker next to the snowman. Just the one looked funny to me so I went ahead and stamped another on the other image.    Well that's going to do it for me today.  Thanks so much for taking a peek at my card today.  See you again soon.  I wish you all a great evening.

Bugs & Kisses

Look at this precious little ladybug by DeeDee Anderson.  You can get it pre-colored or or ready to color yourself.  I went with the pre-colored image this time which really helped this card come together quickly.
I cut the image out with a SB die and matted it with black.  The sentiment, which is also from DeeDee, was punched out with SU! punches.  The Ric Rac punch was on my desk so I decided to add a couple of pieces to the card.  One corner Chomped and a few gems and I was done.
Easy Peasy!    This card will be heading out to Cards For Hospitalized Kids  this week.  We have got to put some yard things away today but I'm going to try to get it done fast because it is quite cold out there today and I'm in the mood to make cards so I'll be heading back inside fast.  I'm hoping to post again today, but if not, soon.  Thank you for visiting with me today.    It's always nice to see you.

MWT - Color Challenge

OWH's Mid Week Throw Down  this week is a color challenge and they asked us to used Pink and Green.  Here is what I came up with.  I'm trying to make a few cards today so I'm going with quick, easy style this afternoon.
The papers are both from SU! and the sentiment is by Katie & Co.  The punch is SU! also. I sponged around the edges of the sentiment piece and then outlined  with a Mulitliner pen while it was still in the SB die.  This one went together very easy for me so I may make some more in different colors.
I want to thank you for your visit and wish you all a great evening.

HMFMC #156 Anything Goes with Twine

Well over at House Mouse and Friends they would like to see Twine on our cards.
I've got twine - - - probably not the way most people would think to use it - - -but it's there.
This image is called Air Head.  The the image and the sentiment are  both by Stampabilities.  The background paper is from the Christmas Tree pack. I used some Very Vanilla ribbon through the SB tag for the sentiment to help bring out the yellow in the background paper.  The picture does not show the true colors.  The inside of the card says...With your courage and bravery.   This card will be going to Cards For Hospitalized Kids. I think this will do it for me today.  It was very nice to have you visit here today.  See you soon.

SOS #124

Hi All, Here is a card I made for this week's challenge over at Shopping Our Stash.  This week they are looking for either Halloween cards or cards with orange and black. As you can see I went with orange & black.
My paper is from a retired pack of SU! designer paper.  Wow do I have a lot of retired SU! products.  That is because I was a demo for a while and bought waaaay too much stuff at the time and then I quit to become a full time caregiver for my Hubby's Aunt.  Not one complaint here I was honored to take care of that darling, sweet lady but it left my cupboards full of papers that I am still using to this day.  It just dawned on me tonight that you all may ask why I'm always using "retired"  products.  So that is my reason.    The star burst stamp is by Memory Box and I stamped it with Versamark and embossed it with black powder. The sentiment, which is also embossed with black, is by  AMuse.
The punch is by MS.  That's it for me tonight.  Thank you for taking the time to visit.  Here's wishing you all a wonderful night.

OWH Sketch #195 & ODBD

Happy Monday Everyone.  Hope your weekend was fun.  I am here with an entry for the OWH Sketch Challenge #195 found here and also the ODBD's challenge for October found here. It's always nice when you can incorporate two challenges into one card, isn't it?

As you can see I deviated from the sketch by not adding an embellishment but I got this far and was satisfied with it as was so I stopped right here.  I saw my designer paper and thought I need to do a guy card with these colors so I went real simple and to the point here.  The papers and card stock are SU! and the sentiment is by Katie & Co that I've had it for years.  The heart border stamp is by Hero Art, another oldie but a good for me.  I colored both pieces with SU! markers before stamping them because I wanted to two tone look.   Well I'm off to make more cards, maybe I'll get anther one posted today.

DeeDee's Digi Of The Month Challenge #1

Well I found some time this morning to do some crafting and I wanted to enter DeeDee's Digi Of The Month Challenge #1. There will be a challenge every month and if you head on over to DeeDee's site now you can get this freebee image and use that for your card.  If you play along this month you will get a free image next month to use.   How great is this, every month get a free digi image and also play along with the challenge. You can also purchase any of her darling images found here.   This month's free digi is called Fall Bulldog and I used the pre-colored version.  I made this a very CAS style card as I think I will send this to a guy I know that like bulldogs and he is also a CAS type man himself.
The paper I used is some I've had for about 5 years and I tend to use it for masculine cards so it seemed to be the perfect fit for this image.  I cut the image and frame from SB dies. The sentiment is by Hero Arts and that was punched out with a SU! punch and matted onto a SB die.  A couple of gold brads finished it off for me.  I think it makes a great guy card.  Thank you for stopping by.  See you again soon.

Happy Anniversary

I just thought I'd post a picture of the Anniversary card I made for my bosses (husband and wife team).  I am supposed to be retired, but I do go in from time to time to help out when someone is sick or on vacation, so they are still my bosses.

She is into quilting and this image from Dee Dee's Digi's just immediately came to mind because it reminds me something that would be on a quilt.   I've used this image several times over the past couple of years and everyone always remarks how sweet it is. My exact sentiments.  I colored the image with Copics and then embossed it with a Square Lattice embossing folder by SU!.  The back panel is embossed with Darcy Heart folder. I can't seem to get a good picture of this one, but we all know by now that photography is not my "thing".  That will do it for me today.  Thanks for popping in.  Wishing you a great fall day.

A Rhubarb Holiday Card

Happy Thursday Afternoon to all of you out there.  I just thought I'd share this card I made this morning.

I used a this Rhubarb image that is one of my favorites to color with my Copics. I cut it out with SB dies.  The sentiment is from CC Rubber Company and it was punched out and matted with a SB die.  The corner punches are from SU!, retired I'm pretty sure.  The designer paper is also retired SU! along with SU'! Old Olive and Whisper White card stock.  As you can see I got a bit carried away with my white dots, but I got into a groove and didn't want to stop.  That will do it for me today.  Thanks for taking a minute to stop by.

SOS #123 - Oldest Ribbon

Here I am again today with a Shopping Our Stash entry.  I posted this earlier, but for some unknown reason it seems to have disappeared.  Anyway we were asked to use our oldest ribbon on our cards for this challenge.  The ribbon I used is SU's Bashful Blue which was the very first ribbon I bought once I started making cards way back when.  I have since bought several rolls of this ribbon along with just about every color SU! offered.
The paper is from a pack of paper that I got at Christmas Tree Shop and I think I will be using it often in the coming weeks and months because it has a lot of cute papers for younger recipients.
The sentiment is by CC Rubber Stamp Company and it was cut out with SB dies.  I layered two glittered flowers with a brad in between my two pieces of ribbon just for some added jazz.  This card will be going to Cards For Hospitalized Kids.   I wish you all a great night and wonderful week ahead.  Thanks for taking a peeking into my little card making world.  I always enjoy your company and comments.

MWT - Snow Much Fun

Midweek Throw Down at OWH is to make a Snow Much Fun card.  A card that will carry over through the winter months.  Here is my entry

My image and sentiment are both by Gina K Designs.  I colored the image with Copics and the sentiment was stamped directly onto the patterned paper with Versamark and then embossed with Black.   The patterned paper is out of a pack I got at Christmas Tree Shop.  The embossing folder is by Sizzix and the card stock is Temping Turquoise by SU!  My husband recently retired from the Electric Company after 45 years of working very long hours during snow storms so he is patiently waiting for our first storm ( he actually wants a blizzard) of the year so he can sit back and enjoy without working.  I think I'll make another card like this for him.  He will get a kick out of it, I'm sure.  I wish you all a fun filled day.  Thanks for taking a peek here today.  See you soon.

CAS - ology #66 Pumpkin

I have been wanting to play along with CASology for so long, but time just keeps getting away from me.  I love CAS type cards and pumpkins so this is the perfect challenge for me so I found time to join in today and hopefully I will become a regular to these challenges.  Here is my entry for a pumpkin card. You should go check out all the DT's fabulous pumpkin cards also.
It seems to me that when ever I make a card with this Gina K Designs pumpkin I tend to use the SU! weathered background with it.  I guess I just like the look of the two of them together.  Well I have a girlfriend who's birthday is on Halloween so this will be her card for this year.  Gotta run for now but I want to thank you for stopping by for a little visit.  Enjoy your evening.

MWT - The Nature of Christmas

It is Wednesday which means Mid Week Throw Down at OWH found here.  My card is entirely made up from SU! products today.
Using negative of a SB die I sponged three different shades of SU! blue inks then stamped the deer image and the sentiment.  I embossed the whole piece with a lattice work embossing folder, matted it on it some Night Of Navy card stock and I was done.  I think I'll make more of these with a Warm Winter Wishes sentiment so they can go right into the next season. Thanks a bunch for taking a peek here today.  See you soon.

HMFMC #155 - Hey Pumpkin

I have a card to share with you this morning that I am entering into the House Mouse & Monday Challenge found here.  They are looking for cards with a pumpkin on them.  I think this one qualifies.      This precious image and sentiment are both from that Halloween package of clear House Mouse Stamps that I just adore.

I colored the image with my Copics and as you can see I notched the corners and matted it with a SB die.  I made the background paper with Alcohol Inks and then stamped the pumpkin image from the same package all over it.  I took a piece of white paper and colored it with an orange Copic Marker then I stamped the sentiment in Versafine Black ink, clear embossed it and then cut it out with my wavy cutter and matted it on black.    I also colored the edges of a white piece of paper with orange for my back layer so everything would match. Now that I look at it, I think I should have had one more layer of black as the final backdrop, but it is too late for that now.  I think this will be my last Halloween card for this year.  Thank you for stopping by and I wish you all a tremendous day.

Out Of This World

Good Monday Morning All.   I'm here with a card I did for Hospitalized Kids.  This is a freebee image from Blackberry Jelly  and I just love it, but then again I seem to love all of their images.   It's the easiest image to color and is just adorable.

I made a couple of these in different bright primary colors seeing as how I had  small children in mind when I was making them.  I colored the images with Copics and cut them out with SB dies.  The paper is some I've had for ages, but the top of the pad is missing so I don't know who it is by. I do remember that this paper was also in blue which I would have liked to use better, but I guess I already used it.   I embossed the red strip with the Stars embossing folder. The inside of the card reads "your bravery is out of this world".      I do hope some little one will smile at this one.  The matted die IS on even but it does not look like it from the angle I took this picture.  I really need to get better at photography, but I don't have a lot of faith in that happening.

My second card is for maybe a tween or teen hospitalized child.  This sentiment is by Create with TLC .  They have some fabulous images and I have been completely drawn to their sentiments like this one. I have purchased several and intend to use every single one of them.  The papers are from Create Paper, Random Pad.

That is it for me today as I have been called into work for the day so I'm off to get my day started. Thanks for the visit.  I always love company.

S & S Challenge #193

Today's challenge over at OWH is a sketch challenge found here.  While deciding what to do I came across this piece of paper in my stash.  It was not quite the exact size but I do love the colors and the pattern so I didn't want to cut it any smaller,  so I went with it and adjusted my measurements accordingly.
The colors in this paper are more maroon then they appear here.  I used some SU! ribbon and the sentiment is also from SU!.  The hearts are negatives from a MS punch.  I think I'll make some more card using this sketch with the proper measurements as it was a fun, easy sketch to work with.
Here's wishing you all a great day.  Thank you so much for popping by for a little visit.  Back to the drawing board for now.

Kids Cards

Happy Saturday all.  I have a quick post for you today.  It's a couple more simple quick cards I did up for the Cards for Hospitalized Kids.  I found some precious free images from  Blackberry Jelly and went right to work with this one.  I can't wait to do something with the other images I downloaded also.
I did one for each gender because I remember from my childhood that there were girls who liked caterpillars also.  I was not one of them, but I can appreciate other peoples tastes.  I colored the images with Copics and sponged around the edges.  The papers are retired SU! papers and I just embossed the sentiment  and I was done.  They are simple but I'm kind of pleased with them.  Off to make some more.  Wishing you a splendid weekend.  Thanks for popping in.  See you soon.

All Dressed Up Challenge #1

I heard of this a new challenge from my friend Lynn  that looks to be a real fun one.  It's called All Dressed Up and this week the challenge is Anything Goes.   They are offering a couple of darling freebee images for you to get started with.

I used one of there free images today but I can already tell that I will be purchasing some of there adorable images for future use.  I colored this darling little dog with Copics.  I also added some Glossy Accents to his eyes and nose.  I cut him out and matted with with SB dies. On the matting die I cut it out a second time with a paper that I colored with my BG11 Copic marker and interchanged the outer ring of diamonds to help bring out the bow he is wearing.    The designer paper is retired SU!.   I matted that on to black card stock and also dotted around the circle with black to help bring out those precious eyes and nose.

This is another card I'm adding to a box to send to Cards for Hospitalized Kids which I think is a great cause.  I really feel good making cards for these youngsters that ares stuck in a hospital.  It puts a big smile on my face whenever I think that maybe I'd be cheering up some little kiddo, even for a minute.  That will do it for me today.  It's going to rain this afternoon but instead of crafting I have to catch up on some more fall cleaning.  Boy it's taking me forever to get this cleaning done.  I have really slowed down in my old age.  LOL Thanks for visiting here today.  It is really appreciated.  See you soon.

Just For You Card

I'm hear today with a card I made for Cards For Hospitalized Kids.  I am hoping this will bring a warm winter smile to someone who is stuck in a hospital somewhere.
I started with a, new to me, SNSS snowman set and colored him with Copics. My hubby and I toasted marshmallows the other night so I "toasted" his marshmallows also. I like mine a nice warm brown, not burnt like my husband, so this guy got his toasted my way.  LOL  The sentiment is from the same SNSS set.   I paper pieced his cup of cocoa (I'm trying to practice doing this piecing technique).  All the paper and card stock is from SU!.    I just looked at this again and realized that I forgot some gems or Stickles on his hat.   I will add that before sending this one out for sure.
I hope you are all having a great day.  It was so beautiful here that we hopped in the car and took a nice long ride this morning to Cape Cod, then picked up a summer time lunch and ice cream on the way home.   Thank for stopping in to say Hi.   See you soon.

CASology #64 Harvest

Happy Tuesday blogger friends.  I m playing along with CASology this week.  We have been asked to make a card representing Harvest.  Here is my take on it.

My image is from the set Autumn Splender by Gina K Designs.  I just love this set.  I stamped the scripted background and then stamped the pumpkin on top of the printing and then again on a separate piece of card stock.  I paper pieced the pumpkin  Normally paper piecing does not go to well for me, but I am happy with it this time.  The sentiment is from SU's Teeny Tiny Wishes.  The card stock is Very Vanilla,  also from SU!  I think that will do it for me for now.  It's gorgeous here so I'm heading outdoors for a while and then I have a dinner date with some girlfriends.   Thanks you so much for popping in today.  Wishing everyone a fantastic day.
